Key notes

  • Microsoft is constantly bringing new improvements and the latest Sun Valley Update seems to be no different.
  • With this update, Microsoft is expected to bring new visual updates, such as improved animations.
  • Animations were not necessarily a top priority for the tech giants, considering the latest update happened in 2015.
  • The news has been confirmed in a Feedback Hub post and users are asked for more consistent feedback as well.

It seems as though the Windows 10 Sun Valley Update (version 21H2) will also come with some new visual improvements which will include new Fluent Design changes and improved animations as well.

We are already used that Microsoft is regularly pushing preview builds and the latest one has replaced the classic zoom animation which was used for quite some time now.

Animation changes in Windows 10

Microsoft confirmed in a Feedback Hub post for system-wide animation that more changes regarding animations in Windows 10 are on the way.

The feedback [for fluent animation] has been passed along to the team. To start with, in our Dev Channel builds we have updated the animation when launching an application.

Moreover, Microsoft is continuously looking for feedback as Microsoft’s Jennifer Gentlement wrote in the Feedback Hub:

Please let us know if there are any specific areas where you’d be interested in seeing more animations.

Since the animations in Windows 10 were last updated in 2015, this can be considered as a nice addition although it will not make any considerable change in the operating system.

Moreover, it seems as though Microsoft is planning on using the same Fluent Design animations for both legacy and modern components.

In order to improve the UI consistency, users will have access to the same animations and once an animation goes to the Settings, it will also apply to Control Panel.

As always, we would love to hear your thoughts on this new improvement in Windows 10. Please don’t hesitate to leave us a comment in the dedicated section below.
