The news that Dona Sarkar delivered almost two weeks ago was not so good. At that time, she said that Microsoft encountered a bug that prevented the release of a new Fast ring build that week. Since the holiday season was approaching, the leader of the Windows Insider Program wasn’t very optimistic about the arrival of a new build until 2017. However, BetaArchive is reporting that the upcoming build 14997 has been leaked online — but it’s complicated to download it.

It seems that build 14997 comes from the internal Development Branch and it’s titled “rs_onecore_base”. The only changes that have been discovered are a new Personalization menu, new Tab Expansion and Save tabs for later features for the Edge browser, a Lower Blue Light mode and an improved Settings app. When build 14986 was released, users were able to download themes from the Store, but they had to manually install them. Now, Build 14997 comes with theme support from the Store.

PC users should be very skeptical of installing build 14997 (14997.1001) for PC because it may contain bugs that could cause instability in the system. On the other hand, the build for mobile devices carries the number 10.0.14997.1001 and was compiled on December 28.

Currently, Microsoft is testing Windows 10 Redstone 2 PC build 15000 and mobile build 10.0.15000.1000 internally. The next insider build is slated to release in January 2017. But now, PC owners can download Windows 10 update kb3213522 build 14393.577 and build 10.0.14393.576 for mobile devices. In addition, Insiders members can download cumulative update KB3206309 build 14986.1001.

Users who want to download the ISO for Windows 10 build 14986 can find it on Sihmar. If they encounter installation issues with the cumulative update, they will find fixes on Sihmar’s website as well.
