Microsoft completed its acquisition of Minecraft late last year. Since then, Microsoft announced its HoloLens augmented reality headset in which Minecraft was heavily featured in.

Today at E3 2015, Microsoft announced a new version of Minecraft, a version designed specifically for the HoloLens. The company showed off a live demo of the game and it looks absolutely amazing. Aside from playing Minecraft on a virtual TV using an Xbox controller, a player can seamlessly switch to playing the game, in 3D, on any surface, such as a table.

All game controls can be accessed by voice which makes for very natural interaction, and other players can join in to your world, even if they are playing on another device such as an Xbox or a Surface. The software giant did say when the game would be available since it didn’t announce the availability of the HoloLens yet, but it did promise to give us more information at a later date, so stay tuned for that.
