Microsoft offers to adopt Melghat village with improved health services

Microsoft has offered to adopt the Melghat village in Amravati district (via Times of India) on a pilot basis to provide the residents of the location with proper health services and consultative care. Devendra Fadnavis, Chief Minister of Maharashtra state in India, visited the facilities of the software giant in Seattle and met with the company’s CEO Satya Nadella to discuss about more projects as well.

The region has a poor child mortality rate mainly due to poor healthcare services available in the region, resulting in several health concerns. Furthermore, there’s a native Korku tribe’s peculiar tradition where people migrate to other lands in search for work during the monsoon season.

The software company will also set up a smart industrial estate in one of the MIDC areas in the state and establish a cyber security centre in Pune.

It will be interesting to see how the company aims to change health-care facilities in the malnutrition-affected Melghat village.
