A unique aspect of the Microsoft Surface is its detachable keyboard. At fashion week in Milan this week, however, the Surface Keyboard and the latest luxury brands, material, and tech of the world of design came together as one.  So, sporting a sophisticated design, and made of luxury sources from Italy used in high-end fashion, Microsoft has just revealed the Signature Type Cover.

With the new Signature cover, Microsoft wanted to make something that not only looked good but also something that felt good while being held in the hands. To accomplish this, Microsoft went to Nera Montoro in Italy and found a luxury material named Alcantara.  The material is unique and is extruded, crimped, needle-punched and dyed to ultimately blend Italian luxury, and the aesthetics and durability of Finnish minimalistic design.

Thanks to the precise material section of the Alcantara material in the new Signature Type Cover, a beautiful two tone grey mélange effect is created. It is also soft to the touch and changes over time, creating a unique experience that makes the Signature Type Cover truly your own.

A look at the Signature Edition Type Cover

Each Signature Type Cover takes five weeks to produce,  and the process intertwines engineering as well as design. The new cover, though, still sports the familiar design seen on the latest generation of Surface Pro keyboards.

The Signature Type Cover is priced at $159.99 and will be available through Microsoft Stores in the United States, Australia, Austria, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Italy, Japan, New Zealand, Switzerland, and The United Kingdom. It is compatible with the Surface Pro 4, as well as the Surface Pro 3. Weighing in at 285 grams, the cover will no doubt bring a premium and expensive feel to your Microsoft device.
