Mastercard has announced that it is set to enable Microsoft Wallet, and other payment systems such as Android Pay starting early next year. The move comes after similar banks and credit card companies such as Chase, PNC, and US Bank announced support for the cloud-based payment technology system.

According to MasterCard, the support comes with an enhanced Masterpass solution and means that millions of consumers can make fast, simple and secure digital payments across devices and channels anywhere they want to shop. Additionally, consumer credit, debit, and prepaid card information, along with shipping addresses, are all securely stored in one place.

Eric Lockard, Corporate Vice President at Microsoft, expressed excitement for the announcement and said:

We’re excited to bring Masterpass to Microsoft Wallet users… Masterpass provides an additional payment option for our customers who look to the Microsoft Wallet to conveniently checkout at their favorite online shopping sites.

Masterpass is currently available in 33 markets, with plans for an expansion to 35 markets by the end of this year. Microsoft Wallet itself is available as a free download via the link below. We previously described how to set up and use the app in this post here, so be sure to check it out, and let us know what you think by dropping us a comment below!
