The name for the next release of SQL Server becomes "Microsoft SQL Server 2008" which has been code-named as SQL Server "Katmai".
The first public CTP of Katmai will be available for download from http://connect.microsoft.com/sqlserver. Download link will be live on 2007.06.04 Monday morning at 8:30am EST.
A TechNet Webcast will also be available on Monday at 3:00pm EST to provide an overview of Microsoft SQL Server 2008 and will cover the core value proposition, major themes and scenarios, and some specific improvements. Also to be discussed are the new development processes Microsoft is using to build this release, the release timeline, and the disclosure calendar.
